About
I started my career as a business journalist, telling the stories of the advertising production industry in Chicago, later writing blogs and producing marketing collateral for businesses of all kinds across industries. I have finally admitted that I don’t want to tell others’ stories (certainly not when their livelihood is on the line).
My volunteer experience writing and producing for performing arts group with my kids’ elementary school showed me how much fun dialogue and storytelling could be, and I fell back in love with writing.
In 2O21 I wrote a TV pilot about a woman facing cancer for the second time and entered it into a smattering of online competitions, earning high scores and a few placements*. In 2O22 I started adapting the story into a novel, Shut Up and Deal, and dreamed up subsequent long-form ideas destined for novel form. All this fiction grew out of the work I did on my How To Cancer blog, my attempt to process my own second cancer and share what I learned as a patient, daughter, friend, grandchild, sister, cousin, niece, and neighbor to cancer.
I’m also curating previous creative endeavors into side hustles that might sustain me while I continue working on my dream to become a published author. Perhaps I’ll self-publish or land an agent or editor, only time will tell.
